YOUR NOT ENTITLED
My, Devotion to Him #45
VERSE PASSAGE: Mark 1:16 "As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen." - NIV
This might blow everyone's minds so hold on. If we look at this passage, and if we look at other passages other books we can see the 12 men that Jesus hand picked. Now, the biggest thing to realize is these men were not apostles of the church. They did not have ministerial degrees, they did not study at some college and have the word of God imparted into them. They did not go to conferences, camp revivals. They were not men of the religious spectrum. They were worldly men. Men of a secular foundation. Yet, Jesus hand picked them to be apostles, to follow Him, to stay with Him, to learn by Him, to carry out the Fathers will. To advance the Kingdom of God.
One of the most common mistakes religious people make is to put faith in themselves. They think God will use them because of their great holiness or special abilities. They think God will use them because of their dedication to a church or because they are always doing something with the church.
VERSE PASSAGE: 1 Corinthians 1:27-28 "But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are" - NIV
People who recognize their own inabilities are most likely more dependent on God. That is the way God wants it. The Lord is constantly searching for someone who recognizes they are nothing so He can do something through them.
Instead of thinking of your responsibilities, just respond to His ability.
We need to stop boasting in ourselves! We need to stop thinking that God will use us based off a list of things that you do for the Lord. As if the works we do would force God to use us. How prideful! I pray for the Father to use me as He wills. To use me for I am a willing vessel. I am nothing without Him! I am incapable of anything without His greatness. I have nothing without Him. For in Him all things are good. For I seek to be used by the Master of the Universe. To control me as He wills. You see Jesus picked secular men to become the Apostles because these men were simple fishermen. To many times in the church we think we are entitled because we love God, because we worship Him, because we constantly go to church. For that very reason is why Christ picked fishermen. They had no ties to the church in which they could boast in themselves. Do not boast in yourself for you are nothing but dust without God. When we rely on the power of God to do His will in us. Not because of who we are or because of what we do for Him but, because we rely and have faith in God. You will see Gods power and will more visible in your life.
