The God Seeker
VERSE PASSAGE: Luke 2:25-26 "Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah." - NIV
Let's look at this for a minute. Simeon is regarded in the Bible as a devout and righteous person. Simeon did not receive this knowledge about him not dying until he had seen the Lord's Messiah through the normal method of learning. This knowledge was revealed to him directly from the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit was on him at a certain moment when something was revealed to him. Thus he was divinely inspired. He has the Spirit of God reveal something to him while the Spirit was in him. This revelation knowledge which came only from God is distinctly different than knowledge that is acquired through study. Man's knowledge is based on observation and then interpretation of what has been observed. It cannot give perfect instruction about the future, but only predictions. God's knowledge can. Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit we can know and see the things to come
VERSE PASSAGE: John 16:13-15 "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” - NIV
When dealing with God, revelation knowledge is essential and necessary.
VERSE PASSAGE: Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." - NIV
VERSE PASSAGE: Luke 2:27 "Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required," - NIV
The Spirit not only revealed to him spiritual insight. But also moved him to go into the temple courts. He was there at the exact same time Jesus' parents had brought him.
A fear of trusting the knowledge that God gives us will cause us to miss many blessings of God. If He hadn't received it and anticipated its fulfillment, what a blessing he would have missed! He would not have been led into the temple at exactly the right moment to see the salvation of the Lord.
We need to ask for and expect to receive revelation knowledge from the Lord. God desires to impart it more than we desire to receive it. We need to lean on Him. We need to rely on His understandings and let the Holy Spirit guide us. We need to stop trying so hard to rely on our own knowledge but be a seeker of God's knowledge. We need to become God Seekers. As we seek Him we need to desire and want more of Him. We will want the revelation to understand Him more and more.
We will want the revelation to help us understand His plans and what He wants us to do, prepare for, give time to. You see as we become God Seekers. We become people who seek God and everything about Him. A seeker seeks absolute truth. We will become a people that seeks the absolute being of God. Everything and anything about Him. Declare yourself a God Seeker. God will reveal Himself to you as you seek Him.
Be blessed my brothers and sisters in Christ.
